Job Summary/Basic Function
 The programmer is a senior member of the Information Technology. This position requires a mature individual with hands-on experience in a large enterprise who is knowledgeable, forward-thinking, and always ready to go the extra mile. The individual must be comfortable working independently and in a high-performing, collaborative environment while employing sound judgment and decision-making. This position reports directly to the Chief Information Office at the university. Since the position is funded via an NTIA grant, it is expected that the incumbent will also abide by the policies and procedures of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs as well as university policies and procedures. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the development and technical functionality of the University’s academic and enterprise applications, including the Ellucian Banner. 
  • Develop, enhance, troubleshoot, and maintain data integrations between Banner and 3rd-party applications. 
  • Work with functional users to plan, coordinate, and test systems and applications. 
  • Ensure proper documentation of implementation decisions, workflows, and configurations. 
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts to develop or enhance current business processes to leverage information systems for increased functionality. 
  • Create end-user training guides. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal/state and institutional policies. 
  • Design, program, maintain, and analyze new programs, scripts, data structures, and user business processes to accommodate current and future needs; consult with end users to detect and define existing needs and requirements; propose and discuss alternative approaches and resolve questions and issues; Analyze user business processes and design application/solutions to help streamline the operations; assure data conversion and cross-operating platform file manipulation as appropriate. 
  • Detect, analyze, and define data needs for various departments in the University; collect, process, and employ end user inputs, information, or other data to determine Ellucian Banner system needs and requirements. 
  • Develop reports and extract data as needed to support departments, collaborating with the department to ensure that the report logic and content meet the business’s requirements. 
  • Apply security best practices. 
  • Responsible for periodic vulnerability testing and leading remediation. 
  • Experience identifying threats and developing appropriate protection measures. 
  • Evaluate/recommend new technologies. 
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, track, and repair complex enterprise systems using change and problem management. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least five years of experience in systems programming and Banner application development using Ellucian Experience, Ellucian Banner, Ethos API, PL/SQL, Oracle SQL,  Azure LDAP for directory services (SSO provider) and Degree Works
  • Courteous, professional, and patient with the clients.  
  • Good team player, self-confident, motivated, and independent/self starter. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
