The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences and the Center for Genetic Epidemiology is seeking an energetic and dedicated individual to fill a data scientist position. This position involves analysis of large epidemiologic datasets from the Multiethnic Cohort Study, the RESPOND study, and other studies.

Specifically, the position will involve:

  • Conduct data analysis on longitudinal and case-control data sets using R and/or python, including multivariate statistical techniques such as linear/logistic regression, Cox regression and other statistical methods
  • Integrate data from multiple sources and databases such as Excel and SQL
  • Perform quality control on code and/or analyses provided by others
  • Assist in interpretation of large epidemiologic data sets
  • Contribute to the writing and preparation of reports, journal articles and conference presentations
  • Assist in the development of research proposals

The ideal candidate must have a solid proficiency in general programming, including data manipulation and analysis procedures. Knowledge of R programming and other languages 9e.g. python) is highly desired. Masters degree in data science, biostatistics, epidemiology, or a related field is required. Candidates must be detail-oriented, fluent in English, and possess excellent organizational, communication, and written skills.

This position is grant funded.

Preferred Education: Master's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Preferred Experience: 2 years, Combined education/experience can substitute for minimum experience

Preferred Field of Expertise: Data Science, Engineering, Biostatistics or Statistics; high performance computer (e.g., Linux cluster) and PC experience; experience with R and python.
