Job Summary: The Programmer Analyst II designs, develops, supports, and codes low- to moderate-complexity software systems to support the administrative function of the University under moderate supervision. This may include departmental and moderately critical applications. Develops processes and web applications. Creates workflows. Installs, customizes, supports, and creates integrations for vendor-supplied software systems. Works on a team and collaborates with specific departments, colleges, and customers around campus. Supports their needs, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and responding to their questions and concerns in a timely manner.


Additional Department Summary: This intermediate-level position, under moderate supervision, designs, develops, and supports low to
moderate complexity software systems to support the administrative function of the university. This may include departmental and moderately critical applications. Design, manage, and maintain webpages using WordPress and SharePoint; installs, customizes, supports, and creates integrations for vendor- supplied software systems, including ADA software; and analyzes and resolves problems arising with the use of software systems. Works on a team and collaborates with specific departments, colleges, and customers around campus; including Campus Development, Compliance, Enterprise Operations, Public Safety, Office of Counsel, Office of Disability Services, and Facilities; supporting their needs, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and responding to their questions and concerns in a timely manner. Specifically, this position will primarily support the ADA software platform application and related processes.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree; OR bachelor's degree and two (2) years of IT programming experience; OR associate's degree and four (4) years of IT experience to include two (2) years of IT programming; OR High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of IT experience to include two (2) years of IT programming.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: One to two years of experience in relevant IT fields, such as development and maintenance of software applications, relational database management systems, computer programming, web development, or system administration. Some experience supporting moderately complex systems and troubleshooting application issues. Some understanding of relational databases and a familiarity with writing and analyzing SQL queries and reports, and ability to analyze table data structures. Some experience with working with customers, gathering and analyzing requirements.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and work with customer groups and users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding. Ability to manage work tasks and follow through to completion. Effective time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Troubleshooting skills to analyze, track, and resolve issues. Ability to implement departmental third-party applications, analyzing installation and configuration documentation, to successfully install and take on support for an application.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting or working with higher education administrative applications and tools, such as AssetWorks AiM; Power Apps, WordPress, and SharePoint. Some experience with relational databases. Ability to analyze database tables, understand how tables and data connect. Ability to write queries and reports using tools such as Crystal Reports, ARGOS, Power BI, SSRS, BIRT, and Tableau. Knowledge of web development concepts, including experience with HTML, XML, JSON, Javascript, and MVC concepts. Base knowledge of managing Windows Server applications, including IIS management and configuration and a base knowledge of Linux commands.
