The Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a Programmer Analyst 2.


This position will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Page Research Group to manage the data collected for an ECHO- PCORI study. This position will conduct and review all the programming for this data collection on an ongoing basis and perform necessary data-type conversions and data-cleaning, importing all survey, clinical and laboratory data into the relevant data management databases, and cross-checking to ensure final data sets match field records. They will ensure secure data storage of verified and documented data, audit trails for data changes, ensure working back-up systems, and uphold quality assurance for all data collection and analytical purposes, including image, job, fields and change verification. This position will remain focused on the management of data files regularly received from Presbyterian Medical Services by developing a relational database system that can be used by the team leads for report creation and analyses. The Programmer Analyst 2  will provide individual and/or group instruction and/or training to the users on new or updated systems. This position will perform systems analysis and develop intermediate to advanced programming code. Additionally, the candidate may provide occasional equipment/technology support for the team's research group research events.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency programming with statistical or database management software such as SAS, R, or SQL.
  • Experience working with large and/or complex databases such as REDCap or Access.
  • Organization and communication skills, including presenting technical information to groups.
  • Experience working with health-related data, including Electronic Medical Records.
  • Expertise setting up, maintaining and troubleshooting multimedia equipment.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation in staying informed about emerging tools and technologies relevant to data management.
