Position Summary

 The UNM Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Community Behavioral Health (CBH) is seeking a self-motivated individual to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team. 

 The mission of CBH is to address health care disparities through: health services research and evaluation; capacity building; training and workforce development; and through increasing access to quality behavioral health services that are holistic, cost-effective and provided with respect to unique cultures and communities.

 CBH is seeking a Program Therapist who will support our first episode psychosis clinic, and related clinical and research initiatives. This position will, under indirect supervision, provide clinical, evaluation, and consultation services to clients and families, as well as specified projects, with a focus on treatment, education and direct care of patients who are experiencing a first lifetime episode of schizophrenia and/or a psychosis-spectrum related disorder. This position will support clinic operations and administrative functions, scheduling, provide direct clinical services, family therapy and psychoeducation, as well as supervise lower level clinic staff. This position demands strong collaboration, communication and clinical abilities, assertiveness and patience. This position requires someone able to be thoughtful and responsive to multiple internal and external stakeholders, and requires resourcefulness, follow-through and flexibility. Excellent administrative and organizational skills, clinical and research ethics, are a must.

Duties include:

Direct service in-person and via telehealth, consultation, training and supervision; assisting with project implementation and logistics, including: consenting, screening, and assessment; data collection, entry, and quality assurance; assisting with reporting requirements, grant writing and curriculum development; regulatory compliance, and more.

Please note:

• This is a part-time to full-time, benefits eligible, term position. The FTE allocation will be determined by the best candidate and their availability.

• This position is expected to continue beyond the listed term.

• This position may require limited travel within NM.

• This position is an Albuquerque-based hybrid position, working in-office and clinics, and remotely at times. 

• We may hire multiple therapists from this posting.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Qualified candidate must be a Licensed Clinician in NM in a mental health related field (LPCC, LISW, LMHC, LPC, LMSW, etc.)

• Extensive experience working with first-episode psychosis and schizophrenia

• Experience with serious mental illness, trauma and suicide prevention efforts

• Experience providing clinical care, training and consultation in-person and via telehealth

• Research and data collection experience
