Job Description

The W. P. Carey School of Business, where business is personal ®, is searching for a Program Manager to manage the newly formed Center for Responsible Supply Chain Management (RSCM) within the Department of Supply Chain Management. This is a highly visible and impactful role in an important, growing and exciting unit at ASU’s highly ranked W. P. Carey School of Business. Global supply chains are facing unprecedented challenges, from environmental impacts to social inequities, necessitating a dedicated research focus on sustainable and ethical supply chain solutions. Reporting to the Center Director, you will contribute to this mission by leading the development and implementation of the RSCM center’s strategic initiatives locally, nationally, and globally. As part of your role, you will work closely and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute on strategically important innovations that accelerate the research, engagement, and educational outcomes of the RSCM center.

Essential Duties

  • Works in consultation with the Center Director to develop and implement RSCM’s strategic vision and operational plans supporting a broad portfolio of initiatives, activities, and programs.
  • Identifies and assesses potential engagement opportunities with local, national, and global industry partners and organizations. 
  • Contributes to identifying, preparing, and submitting new grant proposals. 
  • Solicits, plans and coordinates RSCM events, including conferences, forums, and meetings.
  • Develops and executes effective communication strategies, coordinating with university and external organizations to enhance visibility, awareness, and impact of the center.     
  • Creates and delivers content to promote RSCM accomplishments, events, and activities both internally and externally through the RSCM website, mass email communications, and social media.     
  • Coordinates research efforts including database creation, Internal Review Board (IRB) support, interview scheduling, etc. 
  • Develops and manages project timelines/schedules to ensure deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Prepares and/or reviews reports, memos, documents, and other deliverables. 
  • Establishes and continually monitors/manages center activities with team members; assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness. 
  • Prepares and maintains all activities’ status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes. 
  • Responds to all inquiries regarding center activities; prepares and responds to all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance. 
  • Works collaboratively with stakeholders, leadership, and other related staff to define and identify all required center infrastructure including, but not limited to: space, build/reconfiguration of facilities, equipment, technology and infrastructure to ensure timely availability for successful launch and ongoing center operations. 
  • Prepares all center activities’ reports, budget allocations and summaries/filings to ensure timely dissemination of information to all interested parties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of an MBA or equivalent 
  • Up to date knowledge of innovations in supply chain, finance, leadership, technology and marketing
  • Evidence of effective writing, presentation and communication skills
  • Experience developing strategies and technical specifications for projects, ability to manage complex projects. 
  • Ability to clarify roles and responsibilities to ensure understanding of expectations; takes action to mitigate conflict.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); project and database management software a plus
  • Experience in organizing and prioritizing workload to meet deadlines
  • Experience in conducting and/or managing research projects
  • Experience in working with academic research centers
  • Evidence in being deadline driven with good attention to detail
  • Evidence in being detail-oriented and adept at multi-tasking
  • Evidence in having a positive attitude and team player
  • Experience in being flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
  • Experience in identifying and organizing abstract concepts and pulling these elements together to create innovative opportunities
  • Ability to manage the operations of the center
  • Ability to develop proposals for external funding of projects
  • Ability to manage relationships across different areas within the university and with external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage events such as industry forums, research workshops, conferences and stakeholder meetings
  • Experience in planning, budgeting, implementing and evaluating projects
  • Ability to implement training, session reviews, and follow-up procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of processes for dissemination of results through presentations, reports, and publications

Working Environment

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
