Purpose:
As the Empower and Thrive Program Manager, you will oversee the Empower and Thrive initiative, aimed at supporting first-generation and underrepresented students. Responsibilities include project management, budgeting, partnership building, and potentially supervising staff. Reporting to the Director of Student Life and Programs, you will collaborate with the Ross DEI Office and Office of Undergraduate Programs to foster inclusivity, diversity, and a commitment to positive community engagement.

Responsibilities*

50% Program and Project Management

  • Develop relationships to support belonging and achievement of students, both internally (faculty, staff, students) and externally vendors).
  • Manage programs in the Empower and Thrive initiative. This will include event management and programming logistics.
  • Identify existing programs at the University of Michigan that enhance a sense of belonging and that foster academic success.
  • Develop and implement programs in collaboration with other teams at Ross, to enhance and bolster students entering the Empower and Thrive initiative.
  • Partner with Academic Advisors to ensure support and outreach to students.
  • Work as a liaison between the Ross Office of DEI and OUP.
  • Cultivate opportunities for mentorship and support for students participating in the initiative.
  • Provide leadership by supervising, managing student staffing schedules, recruiting, and training student staff (temporary staff) and mentor/volunteers.
  • Conduct facilitator training for student and staff mentors in the Empower and Thrive initiative.

50% Program and Project Management

  • Develop strategic programs to address inequity and promote inclusion and belonging within the BBA community.
  • Develop strategies to address systemic barriers of accessibility for students.
  • Support annual strategic planning and reporting.
  • Develop and implement clear metrics to determine the effectiveness of the program.
  • Track the success of the students participating in the Empower and Thrive initiative to benchmark success of the program.
  • Participate in OUP team meetings and Ross DEI team meetings.
  • Develop content for communications and publication, and work with internal partners to deliver content through multiple channels.

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Full-cycle Program, Project, or Event Management experience.
  • Experience with student development.
  • You have a DEI mindset meaning you prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion and belongingness in your daily work.
  • Experience in fiscal management.

Additional Information

The general posting range for this position is $68,000 - $75,000. You can expect to be paid a great compensation package. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor agreement and transparency throughout the recruiting process. Selected candidates whose start date is after April 1st will be eligible for the annual salary program in September 2025, if offered.
