Job Summary

The Program Manager’s primary responsibility is to support Drexel Solutions Institute’s effort to engage in interdisciplinary applied research projects that connect Drexel’s R1 research expertise with external partners to provide meaningful research driven solutions and insights. The Program Manager works as an integral part of the Drexel Solutions Institute, collaborating with units across Drexel’s campus to expand critical research areas and promote existing research to the academic and corporate communities. The Program Manager works to support and expand new research initiatives, develop research proposals, and manage corporate sponsored applied research.

This role reports to the Vice President of the Drexel Solutions Institute.

Essential Functions

Project Management

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate the execution of multiple concurrent interdisciplinary research projects in collaboration with the Research Program Coordinator and Academic Director.
  • Define project scope, timeline, budget, resources, work objectives, plans, priorities, deadlines, and delegation of tasks in collaboration with research team and DSI personnel.
  • Plan, schedule, and lead internal and external project meetings with research teams and project stakeholders.
  • Manage faculty and student research teams for successful execution and timely delivery of outputs to clients from sponsored research projects.
  • Onboard and supervise co-op students and research assistants for current DSI research projects in collaboration with Academic Director to ensure students gain experience presenting to corporate partners, conducting applied research with an interdisciplinary team, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Provide training and support for fellow DSI team members on hiring, contracts, and other DSI operational needs.
  • Develop and implement tracking mechanisms and standard operating procedures for client management including budget, invoicing, and meetings.
  • Provide ongoing support for Salesforce team project meetings and clear communications in collaboration with Drexel governance team and continued entry of DSI corporate partners and research opportunities.

Communication & Design

  • Provide support for the Provost Solutions Fellows program including onboarding, designing presentations, conducting research reporting through Scival, and coordinating with writers for development of communications promoting research capabilities.
  • Manage DSI website and build out webpages to showcase research capabilities, student engagement, and support business development team members during outreach.
  • Develop creative outreach methods and marketing materials for sustainable participant recruitment for research projects.
  • Develop news feature following completion of each research project with Corporate Partner and Communications team and coordinate review and web publication with all key stakeholders.
  • Generate creative solutions to showcase partnerships and research development including designing presentations, case studies, project impact one-pagers, and other promotional materials.
  • Provide concise and dependable research communications, customer service, and oversight on behalf of DSI with Corporate Partners and Drexel research faculty and students.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on proposals and presentations related to various projects.
  • Provide and coordinate reviews and approvals for proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Become an expert in faculty research interests and expertise.
  • Act as a research liaison between an interdisciplinary team of faculty and undergraduate /graduate/doctoral students and external partners.
  • Solicit inputs from Drexel members about academic and industry interests in research topics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent
  • 0-1 year of relevant professional experience
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to manage time and multiple deadlines effectively
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with strong decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to work proactively and independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Teams, Zoom and a willingness to learn additional software as needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Establish rapport and two-way communication with project team members
  • Ability to manage and support students in meaningful experiential learning research opportunities
  • Demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and innovation in recommending solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with project management software a plus, but not required (i.e. Basecamp, Asana, Monday, etc.)
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus, but not required

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490.00 to $71,230.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
