This is a grant-funded position for two years. There may be an option for continued employment, dependent on funding.

 

The pay range for this position starts at $58,000 annually.

JOB SUMMARY

This position reports to the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Inclusive Excellence in the Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI), the university’s office charged with DEI strategy, consultation, leadership and collaborations with university partners in embedding a shared mindset to embrace diversity, seek equity, and practice inclusion.

 

The Program Manager is responsible for supporting the mission of the University by providing operations and program management support to the AVP for Inclusive Excellence and managing and prioritizing tasks and duties that impact the overall performance of the ODEI.  The Program Manager is responsible for supporting, organizing, and managing DEI processes and efforts, creating and maintaining databases and records, and completing special projects. 

 

This position requires someone with a collaborative and agile mindset and a passion for community and relationship building and commitment for the ODEI vision. This position maintains excellent working relationships with diverse constituents across the university, including students, faculty, and staff.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operations management and administrative support
    • Provides project management and administrative support for the AVP for Inclusive Excellence, including the day-to-day operations in coordination with the executive assistant for the Office for Mission and ODEI student interns.
    • Ensures the ODEI office runs smoothly short-term and long-term.  For example, coordinating and scheduling meetings, planning, and managing events, including the planning, writing, designing, and publishing of ODEI communications.
  • DEI Systems, Data Collection, Reporting, and ODEI’s Online Presence 
    • Ensures collection and upkeep of relevant DEI systems are updated to allow for file sharing and efficient processes for ODEI programs.  This includes managing ODEI dashboards and databases aimed to track key initiatives, metrics, and progress across campus, and continually assessing and developing effective and efficient data collection and processes.
    • Assists in creating and maintaining a social media presence and keeping current the internal and external ODEI websites.
    • Provides support for accurate preparation and maintenance of highly confidential and/or complex documents, reports/records and engages in critical thinking and proactive problem solving.
  • DEI Programming and Training   
    • Supports the AVP for Inclusive Excellence to innovate, manage and expand existing and new DEI programs such as the TRHT campus center, the DEI Ambassador Program, DEI events and programming, and special projects, as assigned.
    • Assists with the development of new DEI training and initiatives. With guidance from the AVP for Inclusive Excellence, collaborates with other leaders across the university such as the various unit DEI offices and workgroups, DEI Ambassadors, and DEI Faculty Fellows.
  • Community Building
    • Supports and facilitates community building activities to help foster a strong, positive, and inclusive work culture.
    • Assists with efforts to innovate, develop, and grow awareness and partnerships to increase DEI programming, engagements, and intergroup dialogues across diverse stakeholders.
    • Supports the processes to develop and implement community building strategies with existing DEI groups like Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) and Employee Resource and Affinity Groups, including representing ODEI at meetings, events, and new employee and student orientations.
  • Other Duties as assigned (examples include):   
    • Identifies and responds proactively to routine, sensitive, and controversial issues with assigned constituents from the AVP for Inclusive Excellence.  This includes tasks like meeting with constituents and directing them to the appropriate university officials and following up with constituents involved, as needed.
    • With the guidance of the AVP for Inclusive Excellence, works with units across the university on project management and administrative integration and efficiencies to improve ODEI operations. Examples include supporting workgroups and committees and using technology (such as Microsoft Office) innovatively to improve collaboration and efficiency. 

 



Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of program management experience, preferably working with DEI

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
