The Department of Pediatrics employs nearly 1,000 faculty and staff who work alongside employees of Riley Hospital for Children and students of IU School of Medicine to make Riley Children's Health Indiana's largest and most skilled pediatric system. The Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Disease and Global Health conducts global health research and is looking for a program manager to support the research program of Dr. Megan McHenry, which focuses on early childhood development and disabilities in international settings, primarily in western Kenya.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists with ongoing research including, but not limited to: researching background material, organizing study activities and overseeing data quality, writing manuscripts, maintenance of research protocols with ethics committees, and aid in qualitative analysis from research projects primarily conducting in Eldoret, Kenya.
  • Manages multiple projects, both qualitative and quantitative research.  
  • Participates in the coding of qualitative transcripts, conduct of literature reviews, reports of clinical and non-clinical research studies in KC IRB, and the write up of research results.
  • Maintains reference lists for manuscript or grant writing preparation.
  • Manages and oversees the study activities and data collection ongoing within individual research projects within the international program.
  • Assists the PI in background literature review, and in drafting or formatting of abstracts, papers, and poster presentations for dissemination of results.
  • Performs administrative tasks to support the PI's research projects, including weekly research calls, supports the Kenya-based research team, schedules project calls and meetings, and oversees part-time/hourly research assistant(s). 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with team members to develop program objectives and create policies to meet them. Coordinates program operation with all collaborative units.
  • Monitors progress and maintains all necessary data bases.
  • Actively recruits program participants and researches new venues and methods of recruitment.
  • May provide guidance to support and temporary staff and coordinates workflow for the program.
  • Researches available grants and assists creating funding proposals that further advance support of the program. Writes grant reports.
  • Administers program budgets.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

International travel is Required.

Approximately once per year, this individual will be asked to travel internationally to our site in Kenya to engage in training and research team-building activities. The duration of time is negotiable.

$53,000 - $63,000 per year based on experience, skill level, education, and training.
