Description

 

The Program Director will support the Principal Investigator with project management, budgets, and activities on a daily basis. Responsible for supervising graduate assistants and tutors, coordinating mentor selection and training, and serving as liaison to Advisory Panel. Assist with research data collection and analysis and prepare results for evaluation and dissemination.

*This position is grant funded and continuation is contingent upon future funding.

Duties:

  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate all student employees including Graduate Students, Embedded Tutors, Research Assistants, and Interns.
  • Monitor and may approve hours and timesheets for biweekly student employees.
  • Complete annual progress report.
  • Oversee daily program activities including monitoring the budget and participating in research data collection.
  • Create avenues to promote the program; including the grant website, social media accounts, and presentations to faculty, staff, and student groups, and departmental meetings.
  • Maintain contact with all shareholders including students, faculty, community, and surrounding industries.
  • Organize monthly meetings, prepare meeting agenda, take meeting minutes and performs related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Personnel, STEM field or a related field.
  • Knowledge of STEM fields in order to promote STEM education to incoming students.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining annual progress reports.
  • Supervisory skills in working with professional and student employees.
  • Skills in using Microsoft Office suite of products including Teams and Zoom as well as setting up conference room systems.
  • Knowledge and skills in working with minority, first generation, low income, and students with disabilities.
  • Ability to express effectively both in written and oral communications. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Must be able to listen and communicate with compassion and understanding.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, managerial, interpersonal and skills.
  • Ability to organize and see projects through to completion; managerial capabilities and excellent people skills.
  • Desired:

    • Master's degree in an Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Personnel, STEM field or related field.
    • Experience administering federal grants and budgets, developing and maintaining an academic support service, and working with the target population in a student service and retention capacity in a higher education setting.
    • Experience with fiscal and data management.
    • Experience in overcoming barriers similar to those of the targeted population.
    • Experience with specific STEM fields.
    • Bilingual skill (English/Spanish).
