Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The ADVANCE Program for Inclusive Excellence seeks a Program Coordinator. Reporting to the ADVANCE Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for managing faculty development programs, education and training initiatives, and other administrative tasks and projects within the ADVANCE office.
About the ADVANCE Program:
The ADVANCE Programs supports the recruitment, retention, advancement, and professional growth of a diverse faculty. Located within the Office of Faculty Affairs, the current goals of the ADVANCE program are to:
  • Enhance transparency to ensure that faculty members have access to information
  • Strengthen faculty networks so that faculty members have access to the information, mentorship, collaboration, and support needed to advance their careers.
  • Support the uptake of policies, practices, and resources that enhance inclusivity and equity within units, colleges, and the University.
  • Build the capacity of faculty members to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within their local and cross-campus context(s).
  • Understand and contribute to research and best practice on faculty diversity, equity, and inclusion policy, practice, and resources.
  • Improve the academic work environment to ensure that UMD is a place where all faculty members can thrive.

The responsibilities of this position include:
  • Program Management: Support the administration and implementation of programs, including managing campus-wide faculty inclusive hiring workshops and other education and training initiatives; Plan, coordinate, and staff day-to-day meetings, workshops, and training sessions and create an environment conducive to effective program delivery.
  • Grant Management/Develop: Support grant proposal development and grant reporting.
  • Office Administration: Oversees the office budget; Manages expenditures and purchases, processes internal and external purchases as directed, reconciles invoices and collects/files receipts and back up material; Completes data entry, filing, and other clerical duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: 
Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience:
At least 4 years of experience in administrative and managerial work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated commitment to, and experience with, diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education, the public sector, or within the community.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • A master’s degree in education or a related field
  • Experience/interest in working with faculty members
  • Experience with grant/contract management
  • Experience in managing online education/training programs
  • Experience managing events, including online (e.g., Zoom), blended, and in-person events.
  • Experience with working in both Mac and Windows environments, with proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Google Apps for Education as a minimum.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience managing event budgets.
  • Sound decision-making, judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Salary Range: $60,400 – $75,500 commensurate with experience.
