Posting Context Statement
The North Idaho Area Health Education Center (NI-AHEC) is a grant-funded program hosted by WWAMI Medical Education at the University of Idaho. NI-AHEC is part of a nationwide system of programs created to improve the distribution, diversity, and supply of the primary healthcare workforce, with a special emphasis on meeting the needs of rural and underserved areas. Projects focus on educating youth on careers in health care, enhancing health profession student education through the AHEC Scholars Program, and supporting continuing education for health care professionals. This position supports the day-to-day operations of all NI-AHEC activities, with a focus on AHEC Scholars/youth pipeline initiatives.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing day-to-day operations support to team members throughout the planning, implementation and delivery of programs, and may serve as first point of contact for the unit.
Duties may include:
  • Serving as primary contact with program participants, customer service and office support functions
  • Facilitating communicating between program participants and managerial staff
  • Coordinating arrangements for the program such as meetings, conferences and banquets
  • Collecting, compiling and summarizing program data and managing records
  • Maintaining program calendars and schedule
  • May utilize University programs to create, review and approval financial documents, and to provide routine financial reports to the program administrator
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications


Required Experience
  • Three years performing administrative, office and/or program support functions
  • Composing, proofing and editing a variety of documents, using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, developing spreadsheets, email and internet research

Required Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours as needed to conduct and attend evening and weekend programs, activities, and meetings
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Must posses a valid driver’s license and ability to meet requirements for driving university vehicles

Additional Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social science, or another related field

Experience in/with:
  • Data collection software such as Qualtrics and/or REDCap
  • Handling a variety of projects simultaneously that require a high degree of attention to administrative details
  • Working with youth
  • Working with health professions students and health professionals
  • Public speaking, presenting information to small and large groups
  • Using software such as Canva to develop visually engaging print and digital materials
  • AHEC and knowledge of health care systems

  • Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move 50 pounds
