Job Summary/Basic Function: |
Reports to the Director of Community Education and Adult Education & Literacy Grant Project Manager; the program coordinator’s duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinates career pathway & transition classes for Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) students.
- Works closely with AEL instructors, other staff, and administrators to recruit, manage, and promote AEL student success.
- Tracks student progress.
- Attends meetings and seminars to remain current on Texas laws and regulations governing the program.
- Recruits for all AEL programs with an emphasis on Pathway Programs.
- Provides information to current and potential Brazosport College students concerning classes, career/job opportunities, academic assistance, program requirements, registration procedures and testing requirements.
- Mentors students concerning vocational/career opportunities.
- Informs students about areas of study (degree and certificates) and assists with academic and financial transitions into credit and other non-credit classes.
- Supports students by providing information about support services (academic, social, program, financial) within BC and the local community.
- Uses data to guide decision making promoting student and program success.
- Prepares semester schedules.
- Recommends for hire, hires, trains, and supervises Pathways instructional staff.
- Observes instructional processes and evaluates teaching methods and materials.
- Supports grant goals, policies, and procedures.
- Manages standardized pre/post supplies, testing processes, and instructional materials.
- Oversees and assists with registration of Pathways students, class starts, attendance and required documentation for students and classes in all locations.
- Ensures rooms are available to conduct classes.
- Performs other duties as assigned which may require some evening and weekend hours.
- Supports the department’s student success initiatives

Minimum Qualifications: |
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
- Familiarity with adult learning theory;
- Experience working with a diverse population in a student-centered environment;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Evidence of strong computer skills;
- Ability to meet the needs and concerns of college customers;
- Ability to be flexible, creative, and resourceful while meeting deadlines in a results-oriented environment;
- Other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one’s value to the institution;
- Exceptional employment or educational experience may be given special consideration.
