What You Need to Know

Salary Range: $3,042.67 - $3,910.40 per month

Work Schedule: This position will be required to work in various locations on and off campus and include occasional evening or weekend work.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Two years of related experience to include promotion of global engagement opportunities and support of study abroad initiatives

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work in coordination with others

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Ability to plan and organize work effectively and prioritize multiple ongoing responsibilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.

  • Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and take initiative

  • Ability to move/push/pull/lift/carry oversized and cumbersome items for events (a wagon with tables, utility carts with supplies, banners, merchandise, literature, signs, etc.; a food cart; a cooler of drinks; bags of items, etc.)

  • Requires bending/lifting/reaching/pulling items of moderately heavy weight

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Familiarity with collaborating across units and with external and international partners

  • Knowledge of education abroad in higher education

  • Familiarity with, or ability to learn, education abroad software platform (Via) and communication technologies (Zoom, Teams)

Responsibilities:

  • Promotion and Outreach: Coordinates college’s annual participation in International Education Week, World Fair, and Aggieland Saturday. Speaks to student organizations, departments, and others as requested, regarding participation in study abroad. Conducts other tabling and events as identified to promote participation in global programs and to further opportunities to develop global knowledge and intercultural competence on campus. Develops new strategies and programs as identified needs arise. Maintains student and outreach data pertaining to all global engagement activities. Creates and maintains physical and digital promotional and reference materials. Collaborates as necessary with units in the College of Arts & Sciences, campus partners, and vendors. Assists in the promotion of global engagement opportunities through traditional means and social media.

  • Program Development and Management: Assists in establishing goals, timelines, objectives, policies, projections, and aims for continual process improvement for programs abroad created and managed by the College of Arts & Sciences. This involves coordinating efforts and workflows with faculty, departments, program providers, exchange partners, Education Abroad, and other partners. Corresponds and interacts with students as needed regarding all phases of a global program, including finding program options, filling out applications, understanding costs and scholarship opportunities, receiving pre-approval for transfer credit, staying compliant in paperwork processes, assisting in placeholder registration, and facilitating ad hoc post-trip debriefing meetings. Supports faculty leaders regarding recruitment, applications, participant selection, and related tasks related to program execution, whether full program or international field trip. Coordinates with relevant campus partners and responds to general inquiries as necessary. Assists in coordinating the Global Ambassador Program. Assists with training and the supervision of student ambassadors including oversight of their work schedule and monitoring their fulfillment of assigned tasks. Assists in the coordination, planning, and logistics for meetings, appointments, information sessions, and other events. Set up meetings and other special events to include facilities, equipment, and food. Maintains and presents data relevant to global engagement activities in the College. Explains, applies, interprets, and communicates College of Arts & Sciences and TAMU policies and procedures.

  • Student Engagement & Advising: Corresponds and interacts with students via drop-in advising hours, telephone calls, emails, Zoom/Teams meetings, tabling events, presentations, and organizational meetings. Responsible for accurately and promptly disseminating information regarding all global programs based on student’s spoken needs and preferences. Maintains dedicated advising hours each week of no less than 10 hours. Meets with all applicants for college-wide exchange programs and explains various processes and procedures. Monitors Global Ambassadors when Program Manager is not present, ensuring they’re on time, accurate, and professional for their advising hours and events. Assists Global Ambassadors with more complex student questions and concerns and performs other duties as assigned.
