Job Description

The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development and implementation of assigned program.


Responsibilities:
-Plans and implements program events such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings and workshops.
-May assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events.
-Responds to inquiries regarding program offerings.
-Coordinates program communications and marketing.
-Compiles program statistics.
-May develop and update training materials and deliver training sessions.
-Maintains program records and databases.
-May assists in identifying funding opportunities.
-Plans and implements programs and assists in their evaluation.
-May supervise program staff.

Perform independent work with limited supervision in activities focused on promoting adoption of climate-smart practices in row crops, vegetables, orchards, livestock and forestry commodities. The position will require extensive travel to different regions of Texas working with multiple project participants. A basic knowledge and understanding of implementation of USDA-NRCS practices is needed to advise participants on best use of land. Assist in development of multiple contracts with participants of the project.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with multiple participants to design a practice plan that is specifically designed for each participant.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques of routine research; keep detailed records of data.
  • Assist in the collection of soil and other samples to be sent to laboratories.
  • Coordinate with regional AgriLife staff to update project lead and stakeholders about project progress.
  • Develop contracts with multiple participants.
  • Be available at times to assist participants with questions outside of normal work hours.
  • High attention to detail regarding project forms and timely submission deadlines.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree in an Agricultural/Life Sciences field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Two years of related experience.

Preferred Education:

Master’s degree in Soil and Crop Sciences

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

-Verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
