Job Summary

Horizons Student Support Services seeks a strong candidate to fill the role of Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator oversees the Horizons Peer Mentoring Program and instructs the EDPS 30100 Training (Spring) and Practicum (Fall) courses, as well as serves as a staff advisor for the Horizons Student Support Club. Further, the Program Coordinator provides additional opportunities for growth and development by facilitating Horizons students’ professional learning experiences beyond the classroom, career attainment, and works to prepare students for graduate school admission. This role will also provide case management and supplemental advising for a caseload of students. The successful candidate is skilled in developing and executing engaging programming and is a community builder with the desire to do work that maximizes the potential of students from first-generation, limited-income backgrounds, and students with disabilities.
 
This position has a limited duration of five years with continuation dependent upon additional funding at the conclusion of the 2020-2025 grant cycle

The starting salary for this position will begin at $48,750 a year
 
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least four years of experience in student affairs/services in a higher education setting 
  • Understanding of and appreciation for inclusion, including the ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated experience working with minoritized and underrepresented students in a higher education setting
  • Teaching experience in a higher education setting
  • Knowledge of career assessment and development tools
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage various tasks and handle confidential information with discretion

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Psychology, College Student Personnel, or related field
  • Two years of professional experience in student affairs/services in a higher education or career services setting
  • Experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds, limited-income populations, first-generation students, and/or students with disabilities
  • Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue University
  • TRIO experience, either as a participant or professional
