ROLE of the POSITIONReporting to the Associate Director for Programs, this position exists to provide leadership for the UNLV Campus Recreational Services marketing and publicity efforts. Responsibilities include independent judgment on all media avenues for the department, designing a comprehensive marketing plan, maintaining websites, utilizing various media avenues to promote involvement and events, developing sponsorship opportunities, and designing presentations. This position will directly recruit, hire, train, evaluate and actively mentor student staff; assess student development, supervise undergraduate student graphic artists and
multimedia specialists, and prioritizes the design of print media and videos for involvement and event publicity. Publicity is designed with an equity and inclusion lens and marketed to appeal to a diverse and commuter student population. Through publicity efforts and support for programming this position works to engage a growing sense of student involvement and campus community. Some evening and weekend work required. On-call response within 30 minutes.

The department of Campus Recreational Services falls under the Division of Student Affairs - the heartbeat of the university - the pulse that keeps everything circulating to give our students a rich array of experiences in addition to their formal education. Each unit in Student Affairs plays an important role in developing the different, daring, and diverse student body that has become UNLV's most recognizable trait.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 1 year post bachelor's experience or 9 months graduate assistantship experience within marketing, promotions, or graphic design in collegiate recreation, athletics, student activities, or related area required. Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software required. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSStandard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required within 60 days of employment. All successful candidates will have the ability to assess student needs, value a high degree of student contact, interact effectively with a wide diversity of people, have excellent interpersonal skills, communicate well in verbal and written form, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
