The FLI Student Success Center (FLISSC) is proud to be part of the Centers for Equity, Community, and Leadership within the division of Student Affairs. The Centers consist of the Asian American Activities Center, Black Community Services Center, El Centro Chicano y Latino, First Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center, Markaz Community Resources Center, Native American Cultural Center, Queer Student Resources Center, and Women's Community Center. Each Center works to advance learning and student development through five pillars – Academic and Intellectual Engagement, Leadership Development, Mental Health & Well-Being, Community Building, and Alumni Engagement.

Job Overview:
The FLISSC is centered on the pillars of advocacy, mentorship, community & belonging and connections to resources to provide holistic support for first generation, low-income, transfers, current/former foster youth and FLI graduate students at Stanford. This includes providing critical resources, networks, and services that set them up for success. The FLISSC seeks an Program Coordinator to oversee and manage logistics for the center signature events (FLI Welcome Dinner, First Gen Week, and FLI Graduation), liaise with appropriate offices and organizations in connection to the university-wide Big 5 events (New Student Orientation, Reunion Homecoming, Family Weekend, Admit Weekend, and Commencement Weekend), and in collaboration with the rest of the FLISSC professional staff, facilitate and plan programming that supports our pillars. Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Interim Director of the FLISSC and working alongside the office Program Manager and Interim Associate Director and Opportunity Fund Manager, the Program Coordinator will use a holistic approach to foster a sense of belonging and ensure that FLI students receive the support they need.
CORE DUTIES*:

  • Oversee, lead, and organize all FLI Student Success Center signature events - Welcome Dinner, First Gen Week (and National First Gen Day), and FLI Graduation - as well as any other events in connection to Stanford Big 5 events - New Student Orientation, Reunion Homecoming, Family Weekend, Admit Weekend, and Commencement.
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources including student feedback, surveys, trend reports, and data analytics. Prepare and summarize reports and make recommendations to enhance offerings, such as center programs and to influence current processes and policies.
  • Create a streamlined program evaluation form applicable to all programs to assess outcomes and facilitate the implementation of this new process among both professional and student staff.
  • Advising student staff on best practices for planning programs and collaborating with campus partners.
  • Provide advice to students on a range of issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., to guide them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
  • Provide support to Opportunity Fund Manager with application reconciliation and communication management.
  • Provide oversight with the administration of financial processes such as financial reimbursements and reconciliation, data entry, reviewing terms and conditions regarding contracts, understanding vendor requirements, and following up and resolving issues.
  • May develop marketing materials and strategies for program activities and outreach functions. Assist in planning and developing webinars, education fairs and other external functions.
  • May train and supervise volunteers, student, and temporary workers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Understanding of financial transactions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, parents, administrators, etc.) with diplomacy and tact
  • Expressed sensitivity to and demonstrated understanding of the needs of a diverse student body.
  • Understanding of current and emerging practices in student success initiatives, particularly relating to first generation and low-income students.
  • Demonstrated experience with forging campus partnerships and working collaboratively to support the needs of students.
  • Experience in data collection and data analysis, as well as demonstrating competency in assessment and evaluation of student service activities in an educational setting to improve services to students.
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a hybrid position requiring at least 3 days of onsite work per week and more as needed to meet student and departmental needs.
  • Able to work on evenings and weekends, as needed.

The expected pay range for this position is $67,000 to $75,000 per annum.
