Society for the Humanities

Cornell's Society for the Humanities was established in 1966 as one of the first humanities research institutes in North America. Located in the historic Andrew Dickson White House, the Society brings distinguished visiting fellows, Cornell faculty, and graduate student fellows together each year to pursue research on a rotating interdisciplinary focal theme. In addition to housing the offices and function spaces for the Society for the Humanities, Rural Humanities, the Humanities Scholars Program, and the School of Criticism and Theory (summer), the A.D. White House functions as a venue for numerous academic workshops and conferences, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and social occasions.
