Grand Canyon University's College of Doctoral Studies is seeking a Program Chair for Ph.D. Psychology and Doctorate in Healthcare Administration. At Grand Canyon University College of Doctoral Studies, we aim to involve learners in the process of becoming scholar-practitioners by applying design principles that create a scaffolded, embedded curriculum grounded in adult learning theory.   • Defines and interprets policies of college in accordance to accrediting standards.

  • Interviews faculty and administrative staff.

  • Work closely with CDS stakeholders to lead and/or support curriculum development, presentations, residencies, projects, and other college/university related needs.

  • Collaborate to assess the market for program/emphasis development.

  • Participates in establishing qualifications for faculty, staff, and students and in recruiting eligible candidates.

  • Monitor and support progress of students within their discipline.

  • Ensure doctoral learners are positively supported by faculty in a manner consistent with GCU mission and vision.

  • Recommend and assist with needed changes in doctoral program content and partner with the appropriate college.

  • Assist in the assessment of program outcomes including weekly metrics, annual assessment reports, and on-demand reports as requested.

  • Attend required meetings representing the doctoral programs.

  • Oversee learning outcome measurements, program reviews, and other assessment projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution required, in psychology or healthcare administration preferred.

  • Experience supervising doctoral level faculty

  • Doctoral level teaching experience

  • Minimum four-year management and leadership experience in online higher education

  • Experience preferred with online modality for doctorate programs

  • Demonstrated scholarly record of publications/presentations.

  • Must pass pre-employment background investigations.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
