Professor of the Practice in Social Entrepreneurship

The Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, seeks applicants for a Professor of the Practice in Entrepreneurship.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates with proven dedication to and successful experience as a founder and university instructor with a career of distinction in social entrepreneurship, having acquired skills and knowledge with significant educational value. The typical annual teaching load for the position is equivalent to six courses per year, with course releases available annually for substantive service supporting our co-curricular entrepreneurship programming. The job represents a full-time, multi-year academic appointment that is renewable. The position will commence in August 2024.

The Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is a national leader in entrepreneurship education and research. In addition to offering courses in the Marshall School's undergraduate and MBA programs, we offer specialized graduate degree programs in social entrepreneurship (MSSE) and entrepreneurship and innovation (MSEI).

Preferred qualifications for a professor of practice faculty position include:

  • Extensive, distinctive professional experience as founders or in senior leadership roles related to entrepreneurial ventures in the areas of social impact and social entrepreneurship
  • A master's or equivalent degree in a business-related field
  • Superior communication and teaching skills, with demonstrated excellence in teaching entrepreneurship courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students.

If applicable to your background, please highlight your experience as a founder, as well as expertise in social enterprise incubation, impact investing, negotiation/deal-making, and mission-centered ventures with a simultaneous focus on the delivery of social values and financial value. Salary is dependent on qualifications, and employee benefits for full-time faculty are excellent, including tuition assistance for qualifying children and spouses at USC and other participating universities. 

The annual base salary range for this position is $130,212-$200,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.  The initial contract length ranges from two to four years based on rank, with the strong expectation that the contract will be renewed if performance expectations are met or exceeded.
