Description

The Department of English at the University of Chicago invites applications for a position as Professor of Practice in the Arts (Associate or Full) in publication design and related areas. The expected start date of the position is July 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The selected candidate will teach four courses per year in the University’s Arts Core and areas related to their expertise, and they will pursue their own creative and scholarly agenda. The candidate will also be expected to take on service responsibilities within the program.

 

The selected candidate will be appointed for an initial term of five years, with reappointment possible following review.


Qualifications

We seek applicants with a demonstrated record of high-quality artistic production, curation, and/or publication in printmaking, graphic design, book and print history, material history and practice, and related areas, along with recognition for this work. Applicants should also have a record of successful teaching in their areas of focus at the University level. We especially invite applications from candidates prepared to work collaboratively with the program in Media Arts and Design, the Department of Visual Arts, and the Department of Art History. An MFA or other relevant terminal degree is required.
