Job Summary:

The Colorado School of Public Health seeks a full-time Professional Research Assistant, Level 3 (PRA) at 1.0 FTE. This position will be responsible for supporting the work of the Center for American Indian and Alaska Native Diabetes Translation Research (CAIANDTR) at the Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health (CAIANH) by coordinating Center activities including but not limited to coordinating meetings, serving as a liaison between partners, assisting with staff travel planning and reimbursement, coordinating efforts related to human subjects research, managing the Pilot and Feasibility Program (including disseminating the Request For Applications [RFA], coordinating review and training activities, and helping with evaluation efforts), assisting with the renewal application, and additional research duties. 

CAIANDTR's mission is to translate research of proven efficacy into practice in both clinical and community settings, with the goal of improving the diabetes-related health of Native people. CAIANDTR builds directly upon our decade-long coordination of the Indian Health Service’s Special Diabetes Program for Indians (SDPI)​ ​,  providing resources locally, regionally, and nationally in areas relevant to the translation research agenda of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digesting and Kidney Diseases. Our work is specific to American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) but is generalizable to other segments of the population. This PRA position will be a hybrid position with some days each week working from the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado, and the option to have a flexible work location some days each week with supervisor approval.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Director to provide oversight and management of Center activities.
  • Coordinate Center meetings (Steering Committee, Fiscal Team, and External Scientific Advisory Committee) including developing agendas, materials, taking notes, etc.
  • Coordinate development of scopes of work (SOWs) and invoicing and payments for consultants.
  • Support staff in travel planning and reimbursement for annual CDTR meeting in Bethesda, MD, and travel and attend this meeting with the team.
  • Coordinate efforts related to human subjects research, such as entering information into the ASSIST system.
  • Coordinate the Pilot and Feasibility Program including dissemination of the RFA, coordinating the proposal and review process, and oversee program activities for awardees.
  • Assist with program evaluation.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of leadership development program and assist with Enrichment Program webinar series, as needed.
  • Play key role in annual progress report including revising templates, laying out timelines, overseeing the development of content, and gathering needed information (e.g., pilot awardee CVs).
  • Help plan activities for renewal application (e.g., needs assessment with Research Base, qualitative work with network, discussions with Satellite Centers).
  • Other research tasks as assigned (e.g., conduct literature reviews to support publications).

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:  

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, social/behavioral sciences, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and at least 1 year of professional level experience working in public health or related fields.
  • Experience with public health research or community-based research. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with AI/AN communities or AI/AN-serving agencies.
  • Experience developing research progress reports for funding agencies.
  • Experience developing and coordinating training programs.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, listening sessions, etc.
  • Experience using software programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Qualtrics/RedCap, Canva, Zoom, Adobe products 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and supportive relationships with all project staff and partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to summarize research findings clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel periodically (typically 1-2 time per year).
  • Demonstrates a high level of independence, strong time management skills, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates an ethic of cultural competence and works effectively alongside people with different cultural attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$53,000 - $56,000 for 1.0 FTE   

The above salary represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the salary possible at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
