Responsibilities:

In 2023, the School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) was ranked 14th in Hollywood Reporter's annual list of the top film schools in the country and has been named by Variety as one of the top film schools in the world.
In the School of Cinematic Arts, there are currently over 2,000 majors enrolled in the BA, BFA, BS, MS and MFA degree programs. The cinematography concentration is one of eleven in the Film and Television BFA degree. SCA also offers MFA degrees in Film and Television Directing, Animation, Creative Producing, Documentary, and Screenwriting. Production resources include six full sound stages at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios, two green screen stages, 3D motion capture, television, sound, industry standard camera packages, a virtual production stage, and a 4k digital cinema theater. Responsibilities:
The School of Cinematic Arts at DePaul University invites applicants for a full-time Professional Lecturer position in Lighting for Cinematography. The responsibilities of this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in lighting and cinematography for film and television, serving on school and college level committees, and supervising student projects. Continued professional development in the field is also expected.

Required Qualifications:
The candidate will be able to teach practical hands-on lighting courses, will have industry and/or academic experience, and be motivated to work with faculty and students on building the curriculum, leading school-wide initiatives, and/or participating on collaborative projects. We are actively seeking candidates with cultural diversity competency skills that enhance the experience of traditionally underrepresented populations and cultivate an inclusive climate for our students, staff, faculty, and the broader community of which DePaul is an integral part.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field and/or 10 (or more) years working as a professional lighting technician in film and television
  • Exemplary communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to demonstrate cultural competencies in diverse learning communities
  • A working knowledge of current lighting equipment, safety protocols and industry trends
  • Experience programming lighting consoles, implementing crmx wireless controls and creating lighting networks
