Procurement Administrator

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:

We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Procurement Administrator in our Purchasing department. This position procures goods and services as requested by university departments in accordance with institutional, state, and federal statutes and policies by selecting suppliers and methods of purchase, by negotiating terms and pricing, and committing university resources.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop requests for proposals and quotes, evaluate responses, and execute orders for purchases.
  • Analyze departmental purchasing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all applicable laws and policies.
  • Investigate sources, develop sourcing strategies, and develop vendor base for assigned commodities incorporating Supplier diversity.
  • Interface and negotiate with supplier representatives regarding product specifications, pricing and sales terms.
  • Educate, communicate and interpret purchasing procedures and policies to university staff and vendors.
  • Develop and provide basic and advanced requester and business office.
  • Analyze, investigate and interpret purchasing reports for appropriate resolution utilizing.
  • Resolve major concerns, issues and problems associated with procurement of goods and services.
  • Work in consultation with University departments to serve as liaison with vendors to ensure successful outcome of projects.
  • Design content and edit Purchasing website.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of procurement experience, or, a minimum of 6 years of purchasing and SAP work experience with a High School diploma/GED.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate information and solve problems.
  • Strong customer service.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • The ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Possess proficiency with current technology including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, contract law, or a related field.
  • General accounting knowledge.
  • Strong computer software skills and database experience.
