Job Description

Under general direction, the Process Engineer serves as an internal consultant, supporting process improvement initiatives, conducting productivity assessments and data analytics for all three mission areas (Patient Care, Research and Education) of the medical center. This position interacts with physicians, nursing, researchers, and other staff to understand the current processes, identify opportunities for improvement and assist with implementation of the proposed changes. This position is responsible for developing models to understand impact of process changes, as well as develop models for capacity analysis and space utilization. The Process Engineer is responsible for conducting key productivity and staffing assessments, conducting workflow analysis and time studies. This position is responsible for completing complex data analysis/data mining to understand improvement opportunities and presents to Department Administrator / Sr. Process Engineer / Other project stakeholders. Develops scorecards and dashboards to measure and track performance. Maintains Project Portfolio. Under the direction of departmental leadership, develops simulation and statistical models.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, health care administration, or operations management and at least 3 years relevant experience required. Familiarity with the DMAIC and Lean tools and concepts. Health care experience desired. Must possess excellent analytical, good written and oral communication skills and some project management skills. Software experience- simulation models, SQL programming, database design and management. Must possess knowledge of process mapping/value stream mapping tools. Consistently demonstrate leadership skills and behaviors consistent with organizational values.
