Department Summary

Living, integrated pluralism characterizes the Philosophy Department at the University of Oregon. Offering undergraduate (B.A., B.S., and minors in Philosophy and in Ethics) and graduate (M.A. and Ph.D.) degrees, the department is home to ongoing dialogues and inquiries across philosophical perspectives and academic disciplines. The department is especially known for its expertise in American philosophy, Continental philosophy, feminist philosophy, Latin American philosophy, philosophy of race, philosophical psychology, and environmental philosophy.


Position Summary

The Pro Tem Instructor in Philosophy will teach courses for undergraduate students interested in the Philosophy of Education and/or the Philosophy of Social Science. This instructor may be supervising Graduate Employees who will lead Discussion Sections for the assigned course(s), depending on enrollment.


Minimum Requirements

• M.A. in Philosophy.


Professional Competencies

• Professional experience, training, and teaching experience in Philosophy-related areas.
• Commitment to and knowledge of Philosophy of Education and Philosophy of Social Sciences.
• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.


Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
• Teaching experience at the college level.
