Remote Position 

The Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI) is one of an elite number of National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country, and is a prominent, dynamic, growing and complex Institute within the Stanford University School of Medicine.  The SCI actively works to build synergies and collaborations among faculty with cancer-relevant expertise from four Schools and over 30 departments across Stanford University.  We are seeking a PRMS Data Aide to help us enact our mission to reduce cancer mortality through comprehensive programs of cancer research, treatment, education and outreach.  Given the SCI’s mission, breadth, and depth, it employs over 320 staff members in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and forward-thinking environment with tremendous opportunities for personal and professional growth.  The Stanford Cancer Institute Clinical Trials Office (SCI-CTO) is an integral component of the Stanford Cancer Institute since the vital work performed there enables our adult and pediatric cancer centers to translate research from the laboratory into the clinical setting.  You will be working with an unparalleled leading-edge community of faculty and staff who are fundamentally changing the world of health care in the cancer arena.   

Reporting to the PRMS manager, the PRMS Support Coordinator will be conversant in the goals, mission, and priorities of the Institute, and utilize this knowledge to ensure the data and safety monitoring committee and Scientific review committee operate efficiently, facilitates data management for both committees and aides in communication with the various entities.  We are seeking candidates with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and outstanding oral/written communication skills with the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.  Our staff run toward challenges, and you will have a demonstrated history of doing the same with a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and flexibility.  


Duties include:

  • Establish complex record-keeping procedures, including cross-indexing by several factors and the designing of necessary forms.
  • Maintain existing databases and develop guidelines to ensure data integrity; may integrate data from several sources.
  • Identify and select usable data from extremely subtle and complex data patterns, applying practical understanding.
  • Utilize computer applications to manipulate and report complex data.
  • Develop new tools to assist with data collection and analysis.
  • Work with data providers to discuss and clarify data ambiguities, inconsistencies etc.
  • Perform audits of own work or that of others to ensure conformance with established procedure.
  • Select and apply appropriate formulas, computer programs, or applications depending on data content.
  • May provide administrative support.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical research and federal regulations.
  • Time management skill and setting appropriate priorities as well as strong critical thinking skills.
  • Follow-up skills while exercising diplomacy and tact, in working with faculty, coordinators, and staff.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent and three years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Strong clerical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and employ basic reasoning skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely writing by hand.

*This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range for this position is $24.04 to $41.83 per hour.
