The Training and Qualifications (TQ) group at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) creates a strong operational culture by utilizing compliance training as a strategic tool that empowers individuals to understand, embrace, and uphold requirements. TQ is responsible for ensuring that all BNL staff (i.e., employees, guests, users, visitors, and contractors) are trained and qualified to perform their assigned tasks and job functions. In this role, you will support the analysis, design, development and implementation of safety and compliance training courses and programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the radiological control technical trainer, responsible for courses to include Radiological Worker Training (RadWorker 1) and Contamination Worker (Rad Worker 2), Radiological Buffer Area Access, and Benchtop Dispersible.
  • Provide training support for general lab-wide training such as, General Employee Training, Contractor/Vendor Orientation, CPR, and others.  
  • Consult with technical subject matter experts to conduct needs analyses for technical trainings
  • Design, develop and deliver instructor-led, virtual, and online e-learnings in support of lab-wide Training and Qualifications.
  • Assist in the development of training standards, systems, and procedures for Lab-wide use.
  • Provide training assistance to staff upon request, including remediation and continuous improvements for compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Participate in audits, assessments, investigations, committees, and drills, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the TQ Training Coordinator to maintain radiological training records and documentation in support of the Lab’s records management and retention procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENT:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience generally based on 2:1 (experience:college) years, and 10 years of relevant work experience in designing and delivering compliance training (i.e., radiological, OSHA, industrial safety, chemical safety/industrial hygiene, contaminants, high-hazard)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and deliver quality training materials that meet regulatory and industry requirements.
  • Experience with instructional design and online course development utilizing software such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate, or similar tools.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience working in a scientific or laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with DOE (i.e., 10CFR835), or NRC (i.e., 10CFR20) or Agreement State occupational radiation protection regulations and applicable standards.
  • CPR certified

OTHER INFORMATION:

Brookhaven National Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $97500 - $146250 / year. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
