The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Principle Lecturer of Psychology/Assistant Department Head of UNG/DETI eCore This position will serve as Assistant Department Head for UNG eCore and have a teaching assignment in eCore Psychology courses.

  • This position will be assigned two courses per contract term, which are taught fully online using Brightspace D2L (GoView), and administrative duties serving as assistant department head for UNG-eCore. 
  • This position is responsible for providing high quality online instruction, facilitation, and student engagement. Faculty are expected to be available for online office hours and online chats with students in addition to being engaged in course instruction, discussions, and at-risk reporting. 

Administrative responsibilities 

  • Monitor course registrations and make appropriate adjustments in course schedules and instructor assignments
  • Coordinate implementation of academic policies and regulations 
  • Participate in the administration of the hiring and recruitment of full time and part time UNG eCore faculty. 
  • Participate in the evaluation process of full time and part time faculty, to include conducting Annual Performance Reviews 
  • As part of the Annual Review process, guide faculty in the construction of a performance improvement plan (PIP) outlining goals in teaching. 
  • Evaluate all UNG eCore faculty promotion applications 
  • Applicants are expected to have at a minimum a Ph.D. in Psychology.
  • Ideal candidates will have an academic grounding in psychological pedagogy and demonstrated skill in teaching college courses to an online audience. 
  • Ideal candidates will have an academic grounding in the specific subject area of coursework related to assigned teaching responsibilities and demonstrated skill in teaching college level. 
  • A minimum of ten years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level, with at least five years of successful online teaching. 
  • A commitment to supporting student success within a diverse student population in an online learning environment. 
  • Experience working with non-traditional learners. 
  • Prior experience with eCore or online learning and learning management. 
  • Administrative experience of at least five years at a position of Department head or higher.
  • Ability to breakdown and disseminate difficult concepts in a manner to facilitate student understanding.
