Under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor or Department Manager, the Practice Support Specialist primarily oversees,provides leadership, and training for all front end duties such as check in and check out, scheduling, registration, referrals,authorizations, patient administrative messaging, patient forms completion and prior authorization process. Position isresponsible for other advanced administrative duties such as templates, office purchases, coaching, etc. The PracticeSupport Specialist has oversight over junior counterparts. The Practice Support Specialist is responsible for the full rangeof oversight and training for registration/authorization and administrative messaging/forms and department processes andwill be responsible for implementing medical necessity checking and issuing of ABN forms. Position oversees the use andscanning of ABN forms and self-pay documentation. The Practice Support Specialist maintains a QC policy and procedurein the department to ensure that administrative patient messaging and forms are completed with-in ambulatory careguidelines as well as maintain an error tracking and feedback system to identify individuals that require additional trainingor counseling. Position educates clinic staff members and physicians to proper completion and submission ofdocumentation needed for the authorization process of clinic ordered services or procedures. The Practice SupportSpecialist serves as a resource for the entire department. With the guidance of the Clinic leadership, the Practice SupportSpecialist initiates and participates in improvement efforts which directly impact the practice. Other related duties asassigned.

  • Four (4) years of relevant experiencePrevious ambulatory care experience withskill and extensive knowledge of practicesin Ambulatory setting.

  • Experience in a lead roleand front office administration.

  • Experience in referrals and followingspecific scheduling protocols.

  • Knowledge of computer programs toinclude Excel, PowerPoint, Graphs,Word, etc.

  • Ability to register/schedule appointmentsworking between two systems.

  • Possess the skills, and extensiveknowledge of practices in Ambulatorysetting.

  • Extensive knowledge of medicalinsurance, authorization and referralprocesses as well as institutional contractmatrix and institutional processes.

  • Excellent customer service andcommunication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability toprioritize work.

  • High level customerservice and team work.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Orthopedic experience.
  • Knowledge of Epic and IDX highlydesired.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,016 - $78,384 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.18 - $37.54

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
