Position Description:

The Wright proteomics laboratory has an open post-doctoral position to define physical interactions with human androgen receptor using quantitative mass spectrometry. The laboratory is developing predictive, spatial-temporal, protein-protein interaction maps of androgen receptor interactome to facilitate the molecular ordering of androgen-dependent signaling in androgen-responsive organ-tissue systems. The laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art proteomic and genomic techniques to probe androgen receptor-dependent signaling in cellular models of representative androgen receptor-dependent diseases in humans. The laboratory seeks a creative and highly collaborative scientist to lead the research in proximity ligation assays, quantitative proximity-labeling mass spectrometry, and modeling androgen-dependent signaling in cellular systems. The Wright laboratory is a welcoming learning environment, accepting all scientists from all political and social spectrums. The laboratory fully understands and welcomes applicants, particularly those with Midwestern values, due to the laboratory being located at the University of Iowa in Iowa. This position will provide work opportunities to pursue and advance a career in the biomedical research enterprise in an academic or industrial setting through competition of available internal and extramural fellowships/career awards. Overall, the candidate will be trained in cutting-edge proteomic and genomic technologies and execute high-quality research to address significant problems in the field of biomedical research.

Percent Time:100%

Interested candidates should email their Curriculum Vitae or NIH Biosketch, a cover letter with one paragraph describing past work, and one paragraph describing what project they are interested in at the Wright laboratory to, [email protected]. Please include complete contact information for 3 references. The Wright laboratory is in the Bowen Science Building (BSB) in the Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics.

Education Requirement:

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology, protein biochemistry, or a related research field within the last 2-3 years with experience in cellular, molecular, and mass spectrometry-related techniques.

Required Qualifications:

Molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cell biology, growth and maintenance of cell lines.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preferred skills: protein and peptide biochemistry, familiarity with mass spectrometry-based protocols, immunofluorescence imaging, operation of high-performance liquid chromatography equipment, familiarity with Python programming.
