This Post Doctoral position is for the President's Postdoctoral Scholars Program (PPSP) 2024 cohort. Research focus will be in modern history of Eastern Europe and Eurasia, with thematic specializations in imperial legal studies, international law, state-making, and nationalism. The Post-Doc will analyze how modern nation-states emerged in the Ottoman Balkans between c. 1830 and c. 1920 through
international governance, imperial legal reform, provincial bureaucratic expansion, and ordinary people’s encounters with the law.
The Post-Doc will also teach one course for the department.
Requirements: PhD in Modern European History at time of appointment. Research focus in modern history of Eastern Europe and Eurasia and previous teaching experience.
