Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $54,840.00 – $55,632.00

The major goals of Dr. Ruisheng Liu’s laboratory are to understand the renal mechanisms for hypertension and kidney injury. The research programs of the LIU lab are funded by the National Institutes of Health. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, detail-oriented, and collaborative applicant who can efficiently work in a fast-paced environment. A high level of independence and the ability to think critically and write academically are expected.

Position Summary:

The incumbent in this position will report to Dr. Ruisheng Liu. The Postdoctoral Scholar for Research will be responsible for conducting research and/or participating in research for renal mechanisms for hypertension and kidney injury. May be responsible for teaching when part of a specific program.

DUTIES:

• Performs experiments, acquires, and analyzes data, and integrates the current literature into experimental design and manuscripts.
• Applies for research funding and attends and presents data at departmental and national scientific meetings.
• Mentors graduate students and develops independent research trajectories within the laboratory to launch an independent research career.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in renal physiology and rodent surgery is desirable.
