The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar - Research Associate in computational and/or systems biology to study the interplay of lifestyle factors (smoking, vaping, diet), environmental factors (PFAS, air pollution), genetics and epigenetics in the etiology of cancer and other chronic diseases (specifically metabolic diseases). We routinely conduct next generation sequencing-based experiments that require skills in large scale data processing, analysis, and visualization, as well as biostatistics. We look for a highly motivated and talented postdoc with in-depth understanding and knowledge of genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic data processing and analysis, expertise in multi-omics data integration, and working experience with computational modeling and machine learning. The ideal candidate will work independently and will be able to process and analyze high dimensional omics data (genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic and metabolomic), to perform integrative and functional enrichment analyses and to answer key questions from a computational biology approach. He/she will also be able to interpret experimental results, guide lab members through bioinformatic methods and analyses, prepare scientific manuscripts and present research findings at scientific conferences and meetings. Good communication skills, organization, and record-keeping are essential.

The successful candidate will be a recent Ph.D. graduate in computational biology, systems biology, computer sciences, bioinformatics, or related disciplines, with demonstrated expertise in machine-learning-based approaches, programming skills, proficiency in Python and R, skills in bash/Linux command-line, and experience in cloud cluster computing and database management. Demonstrated track record of scientific publications is a plus.
