Description

 

A postdoctoral scholar is needed to participate in research projects currently funded by the National Institute of Health under the supervision of an Associate Professor within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

What would be the job duties?

• Develop new synthetic methodology with applications in medicinal chemistry in infectious diseases.
• Work independently to interpret results and design experiments.
• Work collaboratively with a team environment to carry out transformative science.
• Maintain detailed notes and record all research work via an electronic notebook system.
• Report data in team meetings and meetings with collaborators including those outside of UT Health Science Center.
• Participate in laboratory upkeep, maintenance of laboratory equipment, and safety activities.
• Contribute to the preparation and submission of reports and publications related to research.
• Present data in team meetings and meetings with collaborators (including those outside of UTHSC).
• Report results at external scientific meetings.
• Train and supervise graduate students working on the same or related project.

 



Qualifications

 

Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in chemistry with a strong foundation in organic chemistry (synthetic methodology or total synthesis of natural products), medicinal chemistry, or a related field

Experience in Photo-redox catalysis and/or fluorination.

• A creative thinker who can rise to the needs of multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability quickly to adapt to new ideas and therapeutic areas (within infectious diseases).
• A record of first-author publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
