JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Information Sciences and Technology is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to join an interdisciplinary team focusing on Human-Artificial Intelligence (AI) collaboration to train mental health workers. The project is supported by an NSF grant. The position will involve developing computational methods to assess clinical sessions and provide actionable feedback to support effective training of mental health workers. It will be a full-time,  postdoctoral scholar appointment for 24 months, with a possibility of renewing dependent upon performance. This position is available immediately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop machine learning models to identify relevant signals from audio and text data from clinical sessions

  • Develop and evaluate interactions to convey model outcomes as actionable insights

  • Integrate user feedback to improve model performance and interactions

  • Communicate research findings to the broader scientific community

  • Provide guidance and supervision to graduate and undergraduate students working in the lab

Required Qualifications:

The candidate is required to have a Ph.D. or its equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field by appointment start date.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Strong research skills in relevant areas (e.g., Foundation models, deep learning, natural language processing, reinforcement learning)

  • Familiarity with speech analysis and processing

  • Strong programming skills

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation)
