Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Kinesiology offers seven academic programs and a variety of experiences for students. Our academic programs include a BS in Exercise Physiology, BS in Health Fitness Specialist, BS in Physical Education, BS in Sports Studies, MAEd in Physical Education, MS in Kinesiology and a PhD in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science. All of our programs are fully accredited.
Job Duties
The postdoctoral scholar is responsible for independent and collaborative development, implementation, and analysis of scientific research in the discipline of biomechanics and motor control. Responsibilities include management of all aspects of examining biomechanical and sensorimotor markers of neural function (brain imaging, balance control, and eye tracking) on military personnel exposed to repetitive loading on fast boats. Duties include: hypothesis development, literature review, collection of pilot data, report writing, and supervising of undergraduate research students and graduate research students, overseeing data collection procedures (including at sites on military bases), supervising experimental procedures, review of data for quality control, supervision of data entry/data analysis, analysis of research hypothesis using descriptive and multivariate statistics, and the development of independent and collaborative presentations and publications.
Scholars are expected to demonstrate compliance with established guidelines and regulatory standards for research including biosafety, responsible conduct of research and human subjects training.
Approximately 90% of the postdoctoral scholar’s time will be devoted to research.
Approximately 10% of the postdoctoral scholar’s time will be devoted to managing the day-to-day activity of undergraduate and graduate research students in the laboratory.
