Job Duties:


The postdoctoral scholar is responsible for independent and collaborative development, implementation, and analysis of scientific research in the disciplines of environmental sensing and data analytics. Responsibilities include management of all aspects of developing of an innovative, multi-tenant environmental sensing data network. This network comprises field sensors that utilize various protocols to transmit data to cloud servers for storage and processing. The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating and implementing a comprehensive plan to deploy and manage hardware, software, and data transmission effectively. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in environmental sensing and data analytics. Duties include: hypothesis development, literature review, collection of pilot data, report writing, and supervising of undergraduate research students and graduate research students, overseeing data collection procedures, supervising experimental procedures, review of data for quality control, supervision of data entry/data analysis, analysis of research hypothesis using descriptive and multivariate statistics, and the development of independent and collaborative presentations and publications. Additional responsibilities include leading the development and implementation of an environmental sensing data network and facilitating the deployment and maintenance of sensors. Coordinating the management of software and data transmission protocols and developing strategies to streamline the sensor/gateway onboarding process for various protocols, including LoRaWAN and LTE.Contibuting to the development of user-facing components, including user onboarding flows, data analytics dashboards, visualizations, and GIS integrations. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the successful execution of project objectives. Developing and implementing research plans to enhance the applicant's research portfolio. Scholars are expected to demonstrate compliance with established guidelines and regulatory standards for research including biosafety, responsible conduct of research and human subjects training.
Approximately 80% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to development of an innovative, multi-tenant environmental sensing data network.
Approximately 20% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to managing the day-to-day activity of undergraduate and graduate research students in the laboratory.

Minimum Education/Experience:


English Proficiency Excellent written and oral communication skills PhD in Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Proficiency in Python programming for data analysis and software development. Strong understanding of web development principles and technologies. Knowledge of sensor protocols and data transmission methods. Excellent problem-solving and project management skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
