A postdoctoral position is available in the division of Biostatistics, Department of Preventive Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, TN. 

The division of Biostatistics is looking for an exceptional postdoctoral fellow to work with Dr. Choi and Dr. Hayes. The selected candidate will develop and evaluate innovative statistical methods and machine learning algorithms in high-dimensional data for a variety tasks, which may include data integration, clustering, and outlier detection in large and complex biological data sets. The successful candidate will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams with a wide range of experts to conduct state-of-the-art research in cancer genomics and aging study. The objectives of these projects are: to develop an integrative model for multilayered omics in cancer/aging research; to identify and validate biomarkers from high-throughput sequencing data; and to develop user-friendly, high-speed software in R and Python. These projects will lead to both collaborative and methodological publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals. Extensive experience using the R programming language and analyzing large genomic data sets is required. Experience with advanced computational tools for nonlinear dimension reduction techniques and predictive modeling using large complex datasets are preferred.

Basic Qualifications: PhD in statistics, biostatistics, computational biology, or a closely related field.

Departmental Preferences: Candidates must have the following: a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, or computational biology; solid training in statistical methods; and experience in analyzing genomic datasets. The applicant must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), strong programming skills in R with proficiency in UNIX/Linux system.
