Position Overview
The LaManna lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Marquette University is currently seeking a postdoctoral researcher to address questions related to population/community ecology and the maintenance of plant species diversity. Seeking a postdoctoral researcher interested in forest population and community ecology to start sometime between Fall and Winter 2023 or early 2024. Looking for a postdoc interested in addressing fundamental and applied ecological questions by integrating continental forest datasets (e.g., ForestGEO, NEON, FIA) with remotely sensed datasets (including Lidar and satellite-derived datasets). This position is part of a federally-funded project examining impacts on tree growth and survival at continental scales.
The Department of Biological Sciences at Marquette University is expanding its strength in the areas of Ecology and Environmental Science. Current faculty research in Ecology is centered on investigating the processes that generate and maintain species diversity. Marquette faculty are currently studying plant, animal, and microbial diversity in tropical and temperate ecosystems. Duties and Responsibilities
Address fundamental and applied ecological questions by integrating continental forest datasets (e.g., ForestGEO, NEON, FIA) with remotely sensed datasets (including Lidar and satellite-derived datasets). This position is part of a federally-funded project examining impacts on tree growth and survival at continental scales.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) or appropriate terminal degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience modeling demographic rates for plants and tree species, working with remotely sensed datasets, and analyzing big data is preferred.
