The Gertrude H. Sergievsky Center, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), New York is seeking a candidate for the Mervyn W. Susser Post-doctoral Research Fellowship Program in 2023.  The program supports new investigators to develop research careers studying topics in perinatal epidemiology, including prevention and treatment of adverse outcomes that arise in the early phases of life, e.g. cerebral palsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, infectious diseases, including HIV and SARS-CoV2, and effects of intrauterine and early life exposures on later aspects of pediatric and adult health. The duration of the Fellowship is 2 years with the second year conditional on adequate progress in the first year. 

Responsibilities

Develop ideas and strategies for embarking on an independent research career in perinatal epidemiology. This may include, but is not limited to, working on data analysis, writing papers, reviewing literature, developing collaborations, working on new study design and grant writing.  The candidate is expected to work with the multi-disciplinary team of faculty within the Gertrude H. Sergievsky Center as well as with affiliated faculty in other departments and centers across the Columbia University Medical Center.

PhD or equivalent doctoral degrees (e.g., DrPH, DSc) in Epidemiology or related population health science, or MD degree with master's level training in epidemiology, biostatistics or data science.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates intending to pursue academic research careers in population-level research related to perinatal epidemiology.
