Job Summary 
 
The Center for STEM Education invites applications for a postdoctoral research position focused on STEM education beginning August 2024. The position is for the Hattiesburg campus. The position is collaborative and will be jointly advised by Center faculty members. The ideal candidate would have a background in STEM Education research methods and data collection, experience working with K16 students and/or teachers, a depth of knowledge of the literature as well as a specific content area knowledge. The initial appointment is for one year, with the potential for continuation based on the progression of the project and availability of funding.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Conduct research related to ongoing STEM programs in the Center for STEM Education.
  • Engage in mentorship and supervision of graduate student research.
  • Communicate results of research to a spectrum of stakeholders via preparation of technical reports, peer reviewed journal articles, and formal and informal presentations.
  • Participate in writing grant proposals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications  
    PhD in Mathematics Education, Engineering Education, STEM Education, or closely related professional field.  Will consider ABD applicants.
    Preferred Qualifications  
    Teaching experience in K12 or higher education, Experience in informal STEM learning settings, Expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, Experience working on research teams and collecting data with human subjects, An emphasis on building connections with diverse student populations and establishing relationships with K12 school and community partners, A desire to engage in recruitment and retention of graduate-level students for coursework and/or program focused on STEM education.
