Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary
Post-doctoral position available immediately to investigate personalized mRNA-based therapies for rare genetic lung diseases. Project is funded by a clinical stage company and provides an opportunity to work at the interface between academics and industry. We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual who wishes to develop skills in primary human and mouse models of airway disease and advanced techniques and apply them to the treatment of debilitating diseases. Experience in cell culture, mouse models, and molecular assays is highly desirable. The position is based in the Marsico Lung Institute/Cystic Fibrosis Center, which features a large collaborative group of dedicated investigators working to prevent and treat pulmonary diseases using the latest technologies.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in Biological Science (Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related field)
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ideal candidates will possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment. Must show evidence of ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience and interest in lung biology and disease would be desirable. The laboratory uses a variety of different techniques, and experience with any/all of the following would be advantageous: 1) Mammalian cell culture 2) Molecular biology techniques, including DNA and RNA isolation, PCR and RT-PCR 3) Biochemical techniques, including protein isolation and Western blots 4) Animal handling, including management of transgenic mouse colonies, genotyping, and treatment 5) Immunohistochemistry 6) Microscopy, including light and fluorescence techniques
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Must be able to work with animals.
