Position Summary
A Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas Kash at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to focus on molecular mechanisms of alcohol abuse.  The Postdoctoral Research Associate will independently plan, perform and analyze research experiments. Train and supervise lab personnel and collaborators. Interview, train and monitor student assistants. Coordinate research projects. Manage and maintain the research lab in accordance with environmental health and safety, institutional animal care and use committee, division of laboratory animal medicine and university requirements and policies. Write and develop scientific protocols. Maintain complete and detailed lab records.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Ph.D. in a relevant field.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Previous laboratory experience is required, as well as excellent computer and communication skills. Experience with cell culture, microscopy, transfection, design of transgenic animals, design of AAV, DNA cloning, rodent behavior, and other general laboratory skills will be critical.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Previous experience with creation and maintenance of transgenic mouse lines, mouse behavior testing, stereotaxic surgery, fiber photometry, operant conditioning, mouse colony management, health and safety compliance, animal protocol compliance.
