Position Qualification


Position Summary
The laboratory of Prof. Corey Hopkins in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking qualified candidates to fill an opening for 1 postdoctoral research associate in the areas of organic and medicinal chemistry to support drug discovery efforts on NIH funded projects. Position responsibilities will include: small molecule synthesis and characterization, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and laboratory management. The ideal candidate would have a PhD degree (or expected PhD) with experience in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. Required experience includes organic reaction design and execution, chromatography, spectroscopic evaluation of molecules (NMR, Mass Spec, HPLC). Other responsibilities include data analysis, maintaining a laboratory notebook, assisting graduate students in organic chemistry, and manuscript preparation.
1. Helps to design and synthesize known and novel small molecules.
2. Prepare key research results and findings for peer review and oral/poster presentations.
3. Develops new ideas that promote the current research
4. Responsible for the operation and maintaining laboratory equipment
5. Teach techniques and proper lab safety to others, train and supervise undergraduate and graduate research students.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or related field is required.
