The Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute, a Department of Energy University Facility, is jointly supported by DOE and the State of Texas and is a major technical and educational resource for the state and the nation. At the Institute, we focus on conducting basic research, educating students in accelerator-based science and technology, and providing technical capabilities for a wide variety of applications in space science, materials science, analytical procedures and nuclear medicine. What We Want

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will redesign the He-LIG gas cell and lead the completion and commissioning of the He-LIG RIB production station. In addition, this position will oversee the construction and installation of LSTAR, coupling it to the He-LIG station and TAMUTRAP. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will also help upgrade the TAMUTRAP facility to efficiently couple to the LSTAR separator and develop the detection system and simulation package for TAMUTRAP’s β-delayed proton decay program. What You Need to Know

Salary Range: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Chemistry or closely aligned field

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong writing and communications skills with the ability to work as part of a team

Responsibilities:

  • He-LIG: Redesigns the He-LIG gas cell and leads the completion and commissioning of the He-LIG RIB production station.

  • LSTAR: Oversees the construction and installation of LSTAR, coupling it to the He-LIG station and TAMUTRAP.

  • TAMUTRAP: Helps upgrade the TAMUTRAP facility to efficiently couple to the LSTAR separator. Develops the detection system and simulation package for TAMUTRAP’s β-delayed proton decay program

  • Other Research: Optionally contributes to other research efforts of the Melconian group (TRINAT, WISArD, fission-fragment yields, etc.) and/or other groups at the Cyclotron Institute and performs other duties as assigned.
