About the Opportunity

There is an opening in Prof. Soner Sonmezoglu’s research group for a Postdoctoral Research Associate or research scientist specializing in the design, fabrication, and characterization of optical microresonators and other photonic components, such as gratings and waveguides. The research project will focus on developing an innovative real-time 3D imaging system to assist in the diagnosis of critical diseases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis, designs, simulations, fabrications, and measurements of optical microresonators and other photonic components, such as grating couplers and waveguides.
  • Proficiency/familiarity in silicon photonics, nano-photonics, or related topics.
  • Background/familiarity with the heterogeneous integration of micro-scale devices and components (optical, electrical, and mechanical).
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong publication record in relevant scientific journals.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

The initial appointment is for one year, with the potential for extension depending on sustained excellence in meeting the duties and expectations.
