Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Center for Statistics and Applications in Forensic Evidence (CSAFE) at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our dynamic team. This individual will be an integral member of our research team, contributing to groundbreaking projects at the intersection of statistical analysis, forensic science, and computer programming. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at advancing the understanding and application of statistics in forensic evidence analysis.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will collaborate closely with a team of experts to design and execute data collection methods. They will employ advanced statistical methodologies and data analysis tools to process and interpret large datasets, translating complex data results into actionable insights. Additionally, they will prepare comprehensive reports and research papers, mentor junior research assistants, including undergraduate and graduate students, and actively contribute to publishing research findings in peer-reviewed forensic journals and conferences.

The ideal candidate is a creative thinker and problem solver who thrives in collaborative research environments, with excellent communication skills to convey complex findings effectively.


Required Minimum Qualification:

Ph.D.


Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in statistics

Experience applying statistical concepts and techniques to address forensic problems

Proficient in R

Ability to communicate technical information effectively to a wide variety of audiences

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team.
